White Oak Middle School Principal/Campus Behavior Coordinator

Crystal Mayes
Hello Warriors!
I am truly honored to serve as the principal of White Oak Middle School. This marks my 24th year in education, and I remain deeply passionate about serving students, staff, and families.
I earned my Master’s degree in Education from Sam Houston State University and my Bachelor’s degree in Organizational Speech Communication from Texas State University. I have also completed graduate-level coursework in Educational Leadership at Texas A&M University.
Throughout my career, I have had the privilege of serving in a variety of roles, including teacher, instructional specialist, curriculum facilitator, assistant principal, elementary principal, and middle school principal. Each experience has strengthened my commitment to academic excellence and student growth.
I grew up in Porter, Texas, and graduated from New Caney ISD, so serving in the very community that shaped me is especially meaningful. It is truly a full-circle blessing to give back to the students and families of the place I proudly call home.
My goal is to lead, guide, and inspire our staff while ensuring that every student is academically prepared for high school and beyond. At White Oak Middle School, we are committed to fostering a culture grounded in Respect, Integrity, Safety, and Empathy while developing prepared leaders and responsible citizens who positively impact our community.
Middle school is an exciting time to discover new interests, build confidence, and grow both academically and personally. I encourage families to stay actively involved in their child’s education and to support their participation in extracurricular activities. You never know where you might discover your passion!

Howdy Warrior Families,
It is with great excitement and gratitude to serve as Assistant Principal of White Oak Middle School, primarily working with students last names A-L. As a native Texan, from Sugar Land, TX, I am truly honored to serve in this capacity. I look forward to being a part of Warrior Nation and supporting all students with a safe and positive environment conducive to high levels of learning.
I started my teaching career in 2000. I earned my Bachelor of Science in Interdisciplinary Studies degree from the University of Houston and my Masters in School Leadership from Sam Houston State University. In my 20 plus years in education, I have served in a variety of roles and capacities. My educational experience ranges from Classroom Teacher, Dyslexia Teacher, Reading Instructional Coach, Visual Arts Specialist, GT/Reading/Science Curriculum Writer, Summer School Facilitator and 504/Dyslexia Coordinator. I am thrilled to bring my skills as an educator and leader to White Oak Middle School and work with you as a partner in education.
I have been married to my best friend and encourager, Coach Tim Jackson, for 20 years. We have three boys (Brandon, Blake, and Buddy-our Goldendoodle)! We love football! Blake plays XFL for the Seattle SeaDragons. I enjoy spending quality time with my family and friends, making precious memories hosting fun themed functions. Another huge supporter is my mother, whom I watch model love, kindness, having a servant’s heart, and compassion towards everyone she meets. In my spare time, this is my 18th year serving as a Houston Livestock Show & Rodeo Trailblazer, volunteering and promoting education and literacy by organizing lending libraries, judging writing competitions, and reading to children during the show.
As Assistant Principal, I plan to let love, kindness, having a servant’s heart, and compassion be my guide in providing a safe and positive learning environment for all students. I believe “it takes a village” to ensure student success. Therefore, it is my goal to work diligently to foster positive relationships with students, parents, and teachers to maximize opportunities for our students to thrive.
I am beyond excited and look forward to meeting and working with our Warrior Families as we grow throughout the school year. Let’s goooooooooo WARRIOR NATION! :)

Hello Warrior Families,
I am honored to be serving as Assistant Principal at White Oak Middle School, primarily working with students whose last names fall alphabetically M–Z. This is my 10th year in New Caney ISD, where I previously served as a Special Education Lead and Athletics Coach at West Fork High School, as well as Porter High. I earned my undergraduate degree from Sam Houston State University and my Master of Education from Lamar University.
I strongly believe our campus vision of Respect, Integrity, Safety, and Empathy aligns perfectly with my personal values of leading to empower those around me to take a positive step forward each day. I am passionate about supporting all students, families, and staff members as we work together to help every student reach their highest potential.
My wife and I are proud parents of two beautiful daughters, Sutton and Blakely. In our free time, we enjoy traveling, attending our daughters’ dance events, and cherishing the little moments that make family life special.
I look forward to serving the White Oak community and helping our students RISE Up as leaders, learners, and Warriors.
Best Regards,
Matt McDougald
